Willmott Dixon interiors and David Philp lead winners of BIM Awards

The spotlight fell on the best of digital construction yesterday when the winners were announced in the first BIM Awards, at BIM Show Live in Newcastle.

Among the personal winner categories David Philp, Aecom’s global BIM director and member of the Digital Built Britain team and regular BIM+ contributor, was presented with the Digital Construction Legend award

Willmott Dixon Interiors – whose work includes the pioneering use of BIM and VR for the fit-out of 39 Victoria Street, London for the Department of Health – was named best Contractor, while the Architect category was won by Space Architects.

Nathan Hildebrandt, from Fulton Trotter Architects, won the Robert Jackson Award. This recognises the use of OpenBIM file formats on projects and is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a universal approach to the collaborative design, realisation and operation of a project based on open standards and workflows, and how this has impacted on the project outcomes.

Others winners included Bryden Wood in the M&E Engineer category, WYG in the Project manager/ Cost Consultant category, while the BRE’s Dan Rossiter won the Smart Blog category.
